Rahul Gandhi Visits AIIMS, Interacts with Patients
Congress MP and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi visited the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi on Thursday to meet patients waiting for treatment. He interacted with them, listened to their problems, and offered support.
One patient, Govind Lal, shared that Rahul Gandhi inquired about his stay and the treatment of his daughters. Another patient, Pawan Kumar, whose 13-year-old daughter is a blood cancer patient, said that Rahul Gandhi promised to provide cash support for her treatment. Kumar also expressed concern about the lack of proper treatment since their arrival at AIIMS on December 3rd.
Asha Devi, the girl's mother, confirmed Rahul Gandhi's promise of financial assistance. She also highlighted the difficult conditions faced by patients at AIIMS, including the lack of proper facilities and the need to sleep on footpaths and subways.
In a statement, the Congress party criticized the government's insensitivity and the long waiting periods for treatment at AIIMS. They emphasized the plight of patients who travel long distances and face immense hardship due to the lack of proper care.
Sonia Gandhi Inaugurates New Congress Headquarters
Earlier in the day, Sonia Gandhi, Chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party, inaugurated the new Congress headquarters, 'Indira Bhawan'. This marked a significant moment for the party, which was founded in 1885.
Sonia Gandhi laid the foundation stone for the building in 2009, on the occasion of the party's 125th foundation day. In her speech at the inauguration, she acknowledged the challenges faced by Congress members and leaders, who are often targeted for their beliefs and commitment to the party's ideology.
She emphasized the importance of the Congress party as the only force capable of countering the BJP and RSS. She also stressed the need for the party's ideology to reach every corner of the country.
