Suspect Detained After Mass Death of Ornamental Fish in Chongqing Park

In a troubling incident at Jialing Park in Chongqing, Southwest China, a significant number of ornamental fish perished following the deliberate dumping of pesticide into their pond. Local authorities announced that a suspect was apprehended due to his actions, which were driven by resentment toward a competing park operator whose venture was doing significantly better financially than his own.

The individual responsible, a 48-year-old man known as Li, operates a recreational project within the park. Investigations led the police to uncover that Li, feeling increasingly disgruntled by the success of another operator’s amusement venture, chose to retaliate by introducing leftover vegetable pesticide into the fish pond. His actions resulted in the tragic loss of numerous fish, prompting legal action against him, with the case continuing to be examined by law enforcement.
