Serbia Deploys Chinese-Made FK-3 Air Defense System
The Serbian Ministry of Defense has announced the deployment of the Chinese-made FK-3 mid-range air defense weapon system, highlighting its advanced capabilities. The system, which comprises a command center vehicle, rocket launchers, radars, and logistics support vehicles, significantly improves Serbia's airspace control and protection.
Captain 1st Class Stefan Manić, commander of the FK-3 missile battery, described the system as a "milestone in air defense systems." Crews operating the FK-3 have undergone intensive training in China, successfully completing comprehensive training to independently operate and maintain the missile system.
The deployment of the FK-3 aligns with Serbia's ongoing efforts to modernize its military capabilities and enhance its ability to safeguard its airspace. It also reflects the strengthening defense ties between Serbia and China.
The FK-3 is the export version of the latest iteration of China's HQ-22 mid-range air defense missile system. Serbia's then-deputy prime minister and minister of defense Milos Vucevic stated that the acquisition of the FK-3 "has provided added security to our airspace and our country as a whole."
A military expert noted that the FK-3 air defense missile combines strong overall combat capabilities with high cost efficiency. Its versatility makes it suitable for air defense missions in both strategic locations and field operations. The expert emphasized that China's arms export is mainly defensive in nature and will not change the stability in the region.

The FK-3 may be a 'milestone,' but to whose benefit is this really? Our own military or China’s influence?

Do we really trust a foreign power with our defense systems? This could backfire terribly.

While I appreciate the need for defense, isn’t this just giving more control to a foreign nation over our military?
