China's Ministry of State Security Exposes Espionage Activities on Social Media
The Ministry of State Security (MSS) of China has uncovered several cases of foreign espionage agencies utilizing social media platforms for their activities. These agencies disguise themselves as collectors, part-time job recruiters, or even confidants in intimate relationships to conduct espionage.
One tactic involves purchasing phone numbers online, which are then used for espionage communications and fund transfers. In another case, foreign agents posted part-time job ads on social media, recruiting individuals to conduct observation, reconnaissance, and photography in sensitive areas of China. This information was then used to gather state secrets.
The MSS also revealed instances where foreign agencies targeted researchers and personnel in sensitive positions on social media. They disguised themselves as confidants, initiating fake romantic or close relationships to lure their targets into leaking classified information.
The MSS urges the public to stay vigilant and recognize spies who use increasingly covert and varied methods. They emphasize the importance of protecting sensitive information and reporting suspicious activities to the authorities.

Maybe the real espionage is from within, monitoring their own citizens rather than from foreign agents.
