The United States' insistence on arranging Lai Ching-te's "transit" through Hawaii and Guam has sparked strong condemnation from China. This move is seen as a blatant violation of the one-China principle and the three China-US Joint Communiqués, undermining China's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Lin Jian, expressed strong protest against the US's action and lodged a stern representation. He emphasized that the Taiwan question is the primary, non-negotiable red line in China-US relations. Actions that support "Taiwan independence" are incompatible with peace and stability in the Taiwan Straits.

China urges the US to adhere to the one-China principle and the three China-US Joint Communiqués, honor its commitments not to support "Taiwan independence," and cease official exchanges with Taiwan. It also demands that the US stop any form of support for "Taiwan independence" separatist forces and take concrete actions to stabilize China-US relations and maintain peace in the Taiwan Straits.
