Suzuki Motor's Biogas Efforts in India
Suzuki Motor is actively pursuing the production of biogas fuel for automobiles using cow feces in India. This initiative represents the company's commitment to exploring alternative solutions beyond electric vehicles for achieving carbon neutrality, which involves reducing greenhouse gas emissions to net zero.
In December 2023, Suzuki Motor President Toshihiro Suzuki and other company executives visited a dairy farm in Gujarat, western India. This farm collects cow feces and processes it in a fermentation tank to extract methane gas. The extracted gas serves as fuel for cooking, while the remaining fecal residue is utilized as organic fertilizer.
This project demonstrates Suzuki Motor's dedication to exploring innovative and sustainable solutions for reducing carbon emissions in the automotive industry. By utilizing readily available resources like cow feces, the company aims to contribute to a cleaner and greener future for India and beyond.
