Former Police Officer Arrested Again on Charges of Rape and Sex Trafficking

Jason Krasley, a 47-year-old former police officer from Allentown, Pennsylvania, has been arrested once again, this time facing allegations of felony rape and sex trafficking. These charges stem from actions purportedly committed between 2011 and 2015 while he served on the police force. Krasley had previously been a part of the US Center for SafeSport, which fired him last year after discovering he was arrested for stealing $5,500 during a drug bust in which he was involved.

The recent charges against Krasley have raised significant concerns about the hiring practices at the SafeSport Center, an organization established in 2017 to address sexual abuse cases in Olympic sports. Officials are questioning how someone with such a history could be employed in a position requiring the utmost integrity, especially since the center claims to implement a thorough vetting process for its staff. CEO Ju’Riese Colon expressed her outrage over the situation, emphasizing the center's commitment to safeguarding athletes.

In light of these new allegations, the SafeSport Center is looking into all previous cases handled by Krasley, with a third-party audit currently underway to assess how his past conduct may have impacted investigations. The center has confirmed that two cases he oversaw have been reviewed, and one has been reassigned to a different investigator. In addition to the charges of rape and sex trafficking, Krasley faces multiple counts including kidnapping and intimidation. Moreover, he is involved in a whistleblower lawsuit initiated by fellow officers from the Allentown Police Department, alleging systemic misconduct within the force.
