At a recent walkabout at Keat Hong Food Centre & Market, Tan Cheng Bock, the chairman of the Progress Singapore Party (PSP), stated that his party aims to engage in a clean election campaign leading up to the General Election. He underscored the expectation for his team to maintain integrity, reflecting the values of fairness that Singaporeans are raised with. His comments came after a video surfaced in which a volunteer from the People’s Action Party (PAP) accused a PSP volunteer of physical assault during a campaign event in Bukit Gombak.
Tan refuted the claims made in the video, stating that it lacked concrete evidence and was primarily based on subtitles making serious allegations. He also addressed earlier accusations by PAP Member of Parliament Low Yen Ling regarding a shirt-pulling incident involving a PSP volunteer, expressing skepticism about those claims as well. In response to the accusations, Ms. Low announced on social media that she would defer the matter to the police, who would be provided with all relevant evidence by her supporters.
The PSP has also raised concerns about PAP volunteers allegedly trailing them and documenting their activities in the community. Tan expressed discomfort over these occurrences but reiterated his desire for a clean electoral process, emphasizing that unacceptable behaviors should not be tolerated in Singapore. Hazel Poa, the party chief, confirmed that the police had initiated contact with the PSP concerning the situation, and expressed hope for a thorough investigation. Reflecting on past experiences, Tan acknowledged that he has faced troubling encounters but remains firm in his stance for maintaining high standards of conduct within the political landscape in Singapore.

If you want a clean campaign, maybe start by addressing your own party's conduct first, PSP.

Tan is just upset PAP volunteers are doing their job; sounds like a poor excuse.

The PSP is proving they’re ready for serious political engagement. I’m here for it!

It’s rich for the PSP to talk about integrity when they’re involved in controversies themselves.

This feels like a desperate attempt by PSP to gain sympathy before the elections.

PAP should focus on their actions rather than making baseless accusations.

I'm rooting for the PSP to shake things up—every vote counts in striving for integrity!

Just because you call for a clean campaign doesn’t mean it's going to happen. Actions speak louder.
