Ukraine Destroys Major Russian Drone and Ammunition Warehouse in Successful Strike

Ukraine has achieved a notable victory with the destruction of a critical Russian drone and ammunition depot, carried out through a powerful explosion caused by a Neptune missile developed domestically. Video footage captured the moment the ground-launched Neptune struck the warehouse, located in the village of Chaltyr, resulting in a spectacular fireball and subsequent detonations of ammunition seen in the air. This action was a joint effort by the Ukrainian Navy and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), which aimed to target reconnaissance drones utilized in strikes against Ukrainian cities, thereby reducing their operational capacity.

Defending the strike, an informed source remarked on its significance, noting that it would decrease the number of Russian drones in the air, implying the continuation of such military operations within enemy territory. The Neptune missile, originally designed for anti-ship warfare, has been effectively repurposed during the ongoing conflict for land attacks. With a development cost of approximately $40 million, the Neptune was officially brought into service in 2020. This operation follows a series of successful Ukrainian assaults on various Russian military targets, including a drone strike that left an aviation fuel base in flames for four days, creating fuel shortages for strategic bombers at a nearby airbase.

Moreover, recent strikes have targeted military factories disguised as civilian installations in areas such as Gatchina and Krym, as well as military facilities in occupied Crimea and other regions of Russia. In response to these attacks, traffic on the Crimean Bridge connecting the annexed peninsula to mainland Russia was disrupted for several hours, reflecting the ongoing pressures on Russian military logistics and operations.
