Masahiro Nakai Issues Public Apology for Sexual Misconduct Allegations
Entertainer Masahiro Nakai, who has been accused of sexual misconduct, has issued a public apology for "the trouble" with a woman. However, he maintains that the issue has been resolved and will not further interfere with his career.
The statement, posted on Nakai's personal management agency's website on January 9th, acknowledges that "a problem" had occurred and that an out-of-court settlement had been reached with the woman through Nakai's lawyer. This settlement allows Nakai to continue his entertainment career.
Nakai, 52, was a member of the popular male idol group SMAP before it disbanded in 2016. Since late last year, multiple publications have reported on his alleged sexual misconduct toward a woman.
Following these accusations, several major TV networks canceled programs emceed by Nakai or cut scenes in which he appeared.
Nakai's statement clarifies that not all of the media reports were accurate. He emphasizes that he was never violent toward the woman, as some reports suggested. He also denies reports that an employee of Fuji Television Network Inc. was involved in the incident.
Nakai takes full responsibility for his actions and asks the public to refrain from prying or making accusations based on speculation.

He denies some of the specific accusations, which is his right. We shouldn't rush to judgment based on incomplete information.

He is still innocent until proven guilty. Let's not jump to conclusions based on unsubstantiated claims.

It takes courage to admit wrongdoing and apologize publicly. I believe he is genuinely remorseful for his actions.

He's trying to downplay the situation by claiming it wasn't violent. Sexual misconduct is wrong regardless of the level of force.

This is a private matter between two individuals. It's not our place to judge.

He claims to take full responsibility but then blames the media and denies key aspects of the story. This isn't taking responsibility.
