Celtic's Kyogo Furuhashi was in action against GNK Dinamo Zagreb at Stadion Maksimir in Zagreb, Croatia, on December 10, 2024. Major League Soccer (MLS) mistakenly reported that Furuhashi had signed for Atlanta United, but later apologized and clarified that it was actually Cayman Togashi who had joined the U.S. club.
Atlanta had previously been linked with a move for Furuhashi, and on Wednesday, MLS posted an article on its website stating that the 29-year-old Japan international had completed a transfer. However, the MLS side later announced that it was Togashi, a former Japan under-23 forward, who had arrived on a free transfer through the 2025 campaign.
MLS issued a statement apologizing for the mistake, saying that the article had been immediately removed and corrected. The league also extended its apologies to the impacted parties.
