Calgary Flames Forward Connor Zary Out Indefinitely After Knee Injury
Calgary Flames forward Connor Zary will be out indefinitely after suffering a knee injury in Tuesday's game against the Anaheim Ducks. Zary collided with Ducks defenseman Drew Helleson in the second period, resulting in a major penalty and game misconduct for Helleson.
Zary was tied for fourth in Flames' points with 10 goals and 12 assists in 40 games. Head coach Ryan Huska praised Zary's poise and possession skills, noting his ability to generate dangerous scoring chances.
"When you lose a player like that, whether it's a game or 10 games, you'll most definitely miss him," Huska said. "Having said that, it's [an] opportunity for someone else, in his absence to step up and try to make a name for themselves."
The Flames have called up center Rory Kerins from the American Hockey League's Calgary Wranglers to fill the void left by Zary's absence. Kerins led the AHL in goals with 21 and ranked second in points with 34.
Zary, who was selected by the Flames in the first round of the 2020 NHL Draft, had 14 goals and 20 assists in 63 games last season. His absence will be a significant blow to the Flames' offense as they look to maintain their playoff position.

It's never good to lose a player to injury, but let's support Kerins during this time. This is his chance to prove himself. Go Kerins, go Flames!
