The Harbin Ice-Snow World, located in the city of Harbin in Northeast China's Heilongjiang province, is experiencing a remarkable turnout this year, having welcomed over 1 million visitors within the first 20 days since its opening on December 21, 2024. This year's park is the largest to date, covering an impressive area of 1 million square meters, a significant increase from the previous year's 800,000 square meters, and constructed using more than 300,000 cubic meters of ice and snow.
As the capital of Heilongjiang, Harbin has established itself as a leading winter travel destination in China, attracting guests from around the world eager to experience its winter magic. The design of this year's park features themes related to the upcoming 2025 Harbin Asian Winter Games, set to commence in February, in addition to elements celebrating the Spring Festival, which will occur at the end of January.
Visitors to Harbin Ice-Snow World can enjoy a range of attractions, including thrilling ice slides, magnificent ice palaces, and stunning sculptures, along with various ice and snow sports. Alongside these attractions, the local cuisine plays a significant role in drawing crowds, particularly the popular big hotpot, which offers a satisfying mix of over 30 different ingredients for a warming dining experience. Recent data from the Harbin Cultural and Tourism Bureau indicates a notable rise in visitor numbers, with an 18.6 percent increase from November 1, 2024, to January 7, 2025, and a remarkable 41.1 percent surge in international tourist numbers compared to the previous year.
