The U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) reported the arrest of a man from Virginia who tried to set his vehicle on fire in proximity to the Capitol during President-elect Trump's visit on Wednesday night. The individual, identified as 35-year-old Adrian J. Hinton, was detained for engaging in unlawful activities, highlighting the heightened security measures in place.
According to USCP Chief J. Thomas Manger, the vigilant actions of officers helped prevent potential danger to the Capitol Hill community. Hinton attempted to ignite a bag on top of his car shortly before 5:30 p.m., prompting officers to respond quickly. Fortunately, the flames extinguished themselves before the police arrived.
After securing the scene, authorities declared the vehicle suspicious, leading to its inspection by the Hazardous Incident Response Division. Although the car was covered in spray paint and contained accelerants, it was determined to be non-threatening by around 7 p.m., and Hinton was arrested.
In a separate incident earlier that day, another man named Mel J. Horne, aged 44 and from Washington, D.C., was arrested after attempting to carry a machete into the Capitol Visitor Center. Security screenings at the north doors alerted officers to the weapon in Horne's bag, resulting in his arrest for multiple counts related to carrying dangerous weapons. Law enforcement will interview him to establish his motive.

This is just another example of how Trump is dividing the country and inciting violence. He needs to be held accountable for his words and actions.
