Oren Alexander, along with his brothers Tal and Alon, has been implicated in a serious case involving allegations of drugging and sexually assaulting many women across multiple states. The trio, who share a luxury real estate business in New York and Miami, were taken into federal custody following the filing of charges on December 11. Prosecutors have indicated that the brothers worked collaboratively, allegedly victimizing individuals in New York, Miami, and potentially other locations.
On Tuesday, Oren missed his bail hearing in a Miami federal court due to what was described as a transportation mix-up involving the U.S. Marshals Service. There was a mistaken order which led to Oren being intended for transfer to New York City, where the charges had originated. A judge in Miami highlighted the miscommunication, stating that Oren had been inadvertently sent to New York and was unable to attend his scheduled hearing; the judge has since ordered his return to Miami for the bail proceedings.
The Alexander brothers have been accused of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking along with individual charges for trafficking multiple victims. Prosecutors allege that their illicit activities have been ongoing since at least 2010, although they believe the history of sexual violence stretches back as far as two decades, even occurring during the brothers' high school years. The indictment paints a troubling picture of how the brothers lured women with promises of luxurious experiences, only to then engage in forcible assault.
Notably, court documents reveal that the brothers utilized a WhatsApp group labeled "Lions in Tulum" to coordinate arrangements for transporting women to Mexico in 2016, where they purportedly discussed logistics involving drugs and payment for these women. The Alexander brothers previously gained prominence in the luxury real estate market by working with high-profile clients, but their current legal woes paint a starkly different narrative. Legal representatives for the brothers have expressed intentions to contest the charges in court, with a plea of not guilty being announced for at least one brother.
