The Prince and Princess of Wales are reportedly hoping to announce their first royal warrants this year. This would be the first time they have used this power since taking up their new roles. The royal couple were granted the titles of Prince and Princess of Wales on September 9, 2022, just one day after Queen Elizabeth's death and King Charles's ascension to the throne.
Royal warrants are granted for five years and are a mark of recognition for the ongoing supply of goods or services to the Royal Household and/or senior members of the Royal Family. Businesses chosen by the Palace represent a range of industries, from heritage crafts to clothing and food manufacturers. Only senior members of the Royal Family are permitted to grant the prestigious awards.
Last month, Charles and Camilla granted royal warrants to nearly 400 companies, including some of their favourites. This comes as royal sources revealed how the future Queen is looking ahead with a renewed perspective following her cancer battle last year. Insiders suggested Kate will not be making a full return to royal duties any time soon but she will continue to ease herself back into social life gradually, as she's been doing in the last few months.

Is this really the best way to promote British businesses? It feels like they're just picking their favorites.

Shouldn't they be focusing on more important issues like climate change or poverty? This just seems frivolous.

It's disappointing to see them using their power to benefit businesses instead of the people.

I'd rather see them using their platform to advocate for social justice or environmental protection.

I'm sure there are plenty of deserving businesses out there who could use the support without a royal endorsement.
