Robbie Keane Appointed Ferencvaros Coach
Former Ireland and Premier League striker Robbie Keane has been appointed as the new coach of Hungarian club Ferencvaros. The 44-year-old, who enjoyed a successful playing career with clubs like Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, will leave for the team's training camp in Spain on Tuesday.
Keane boasts an impressive playing career, having represented clubs like Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Leeds United, and West Ham United. He also holds the record for most appearances and goals for the Republic of Ireland national team, with 146 caps and 68 goals.
This is not Keane's first foray into coaching. He previously served as player-manager for Atletico de Kolkata in India and took on his first head coaching role with Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Israeli Premier League in 2023.
Ferencvaros, a 35-time Hungarian champion and 24-time cup winner, will be hoping that Keane's experience and leadership will guide them to further success.

Robbie’s been successful in every role he’s taken on so far. I believe he’ll adapt to this one too!

Really? Robbie Keane as coach? I don’t think he has the tactical know-how needed for a top club like Ferencvaros.

Hopeful for the future! Having an iconic figure like Keane at the helm should bring excitement back to the fans!

Great news for Ferencvaros! Can’t wait to see how Keane implements his vision on the pitch.

He’s had one coaching role with Maccabi Tel Aviv, and we all know how that went. This seems like a bad move.

I doubt Keane can handle the pressure of coaching a major team in Europe. They should have chosen someone with more experience.

I can’t see how he’ll adapt from player to coach at such a demanding level. This could end in tears.

This feels more like a PR stunt than a strategic decision. Ferencvaros deserves better!
