Scottie Scheffler has decided to withdraw from The American Express tournament in order to concentrate on rehabilitating a hand injury that previously sidelined him during The Sentry last week. He shared this update on his Instagram story, indicating that his aim is to kick off the 2025 season at the upcoming AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, which is set to begin on January 30.
According to his manager, the injury was a puncture wound from a glass incident that occurred while Scheffler was preparing a meal on Christmas Day and required surgical intervention to remove the glass fragments. Medical professionals anticipate that he will fully recover in about four weeks. The American Express tournament is scheduled to take place from January 16-19 in La Quinta, California.
In the previous season, Scheffler achieved remarkable success, winning eight times on the PGA Tour, earning the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, and securing the PGA Tour Player of the Year award for the third year in a row. He also finished in a tie for sixth place at the 2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
