South Africa's Test Team on a Winning Streak
South Africa's test team is riding high on a wave of success, having won their seventh consecutive match with a 10-wicket victory over Pakistan at Newlands on Monday. This win has put them in a strong position to qualify for the World Test Championship final.
The team's recent victories have come against a variety of opponents, including West Indies, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan. While some have suggested that this run of success has been due to a relatively easy schedule, captain Temba Bavuma believes that the team still has room for improvement.
"As much as we have got the success, I don't think we are a well-oiled machine," Bavuma said. "We have seen in certain moments of the game that we have let it go too much in the opposition's favour and it has taken some form of brilliance from us to bring it back."
their ability to find a way to win. "We are still on a journey and not close to playing 100 percent," he said. "But there is something special brewing within the team and it will be scary when we are firing on all cylinders."
The World Test Championship final will be played at Lord's from June 11-15 against Australia. Bavuma is confident that the team will be well prepared for the challenge. "We'll prepare as well as we can, probably more mentally than anything," he said. "We will stay true to what we have been doing as a team. We will have to adjust to the conditions in England and the opposition, but we will go out and fight."
Bavuma also expressed his disappointment at the lack of home test matches scheduled for South Africa in the near future. "The guys are super keen to play test cricket and the fact there is a trophy available is a factor," he said. "We have been able to fill stadiums with fans (at home) and we want to play a lot more.
