Erin Elizabeth Ann Strotman, a 26-year-old nurse from Chesterfield County, Virginia, has been charged with child abuse following the discovery of unexplained injuries on a newborn in a hospital's neonatal intensive care unit. She faces serious charges of malicious wounding and felony child abuse, as reported by court documents and the Henrico County Police Division.
The investigation began after officials at Henrico Doctors’ Hospital in Richmond identified three infants with mysterious fractures in late November and December. The hospital has assisted law enforcement by providing footage to aid in their inquiry into the incidents. Should she be convicted, Strotman could endure significant penalties, including up to 10 years for felony child neglect and up to 20 years for malicious wounding, according to statements from Henrico County's commonwealth’s attorney, Shannon Taylor.
