Protests and Concerns Rise in Balochistan Over Enforced Disappearances and Killings

Protests Erupt in Balochistan Over Enforced Disappearances

Residents of Pasni in Pakistan's Balochistan province held a protest rally on the 12th anniversary of the enforced disappearance of Dostain Baloch, also known as Bolan Kareem. The rally, which began at the Pasni Press Club and ended at JS Bank, saw a significant number of participants, including women and children.

Protesters carried placards and banners demanding the release of Bolan Kareem and other missing persons. Speakers at the rally highlighted the suffering of Bolan Kareem's family, especially his mother, who has been waiting for his return for 12 years. They termed the practice of depriving individuals and their families of their lives and happiness for over a decade as an act of injustice.

Meanwhile, the brother of missing Nauman Ishaq in Gwadar released a statement about his enforced disappearance. He said that Nauman Ishaq was taken from Dhoriya Tyab Dip, Gwadar on November 7, 2024, and remains missing. He called on authorities to present his brother in court if he is accused of wrongdoing, instead of keeping him in indefinite detention. He warned that the family will take to the streets in protest if Nauman Ishaq is not released.

Baloch activist Mahrang Baloch expressed concern over the rise in incidents of "military barbarism", enforced disappearances, and dumping by local militias backed by state security forces in Balochistan. She highlighted the case of Zareef, who was allegedly disappeared in the Tump town of Kech and later killed. She urged the people of Balochistan to join the sit-in in Turbat to protest these injustices.

This constant blame on the authorities is unproductive. No one knows the full story behind these disappearances.

Enough is enough! These protests only fuel unrest and violence in the region. We need peace, not chaos.

Let's rally behind the families of the missing. We must advocate for their rights and demand action!

Protesting is a way of grieving and demanding justice for loved ones. It's a necessity, not a choice.

We need evidence-based discussions, not emotional rallies that might misinform the public.

The focus should be on promoting dialogue rather than inciting more divisions through protests.

Why don't the families seek legal avenues instead of protesting? Public pressure rarely yields results.

Protesting without understanding the facts only complicates the situation. Let’s focus on constructive solutions instead.

Protesters are ignoring the consequences their actions might have on local businesses and citizens.

These protests seem more like a political stunt than a genuine call for justice.

Let’s not paint all security forces as villains. They have a duty to protect citizens too.

It's heart-wrenching to see families suffer in silence. These protests are crucial to bring attention to enforced disappearances!

These protests are stepping stones to creating more chaos rather than reaching any resolution.
