According to a recent report from the Competitive Sports Department of the General Administration of Sport of China, 2024 was a remarkable year for Chinese athletes, who achieved a historic milestone by securing 194 world championships spread over 33 different events. This accomplishment not only highlights their dominance but also reflects the growth and development of sports in China.
The report also highlights the outstanding performance of Chinese athletes at the Paris Olympics, where they excelled by winning a total of 40 gold medals, 27 silver medals, and 24 bronze medals. This achievement represents the most successful overseas Olympic performance for China since the country was established.
Throughout its history, the People's Republic of China has seen its athletes win an incredible total of 4,107 world championships and break 1,419 world records. Since the onset of the reform and opening-up policies, these athletes have achieved 4,083 world championships and set 1,245 world records, showcasing an impressive legacy of excellence in competitive sports.
