Suspected Illegal Immigrant Arrested After Fake Bomb Threat in South Carolina

On Thursday, a 28-year-old man named Ahmad Jamal Khamees Alhendi was detained in South Carolina following a traffic stop due to a missing license plate on his tractor-trailer. During the stop, Alhendi informed the state transport police that his vehicle contained an explosive device, leading to a significant response from local law enforcement agencies, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), and the FBI.

As authorities investigated the bomb threat, all six lanes of Interstate 85 were shut down near Mile Marker 44, creating extensive traffic delays for commuters. After a thorough examination, the authorities cleared the vehicle, and the highway was reopened around 7:40 p.m.

Alhendi appeared in court the day after his arrest, where he was charged with making a false bomb threat, disorderly conduct of a serious nature, and operating a vehicle without a license. He received a total surety bond of $20,238 to cover the charges and has been placed in the Greenville County Detention Center, where he is also subject to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) hold, indicating that he may face deportation due to his illegal immigration status. His employer, Globe Transportation, confirmed his affiliation with the company but opted not to comment further on the situation.

Making mistakes doesn't make him a bad person. I'm sure he's learned his lesson and won't do anything like this again.

He was probably just under a lot of stress. Maybe he was having financial problems or was worried about losing his job.

I hope he gets the help he needs. Clearly, he was going through something that led him to make this decision.

I feel bad for this guy. He made a mistake, but it sounds like he was just trying to get help for a possible problem with his truck.

This is why we need stricter border security! If we had better controls in place, this man wouldn't have been able to enter our country in the first place.

He didn't hurt anyone, so why are people so quick to judge him? Maybe he was just scared and didn't know what else to do.

How dare he put people's lives at risk! He could have easily caused a panic or stampede, and someone could have been seriously injured or even killed.

This is a slap in the face to all of the hard-working people who were stuck in traffic for hours. He wasted their time and money, and he should be held accountable.

I'm so angry that this man was able to cause so much disruption and inconvenience. I hope he never gets behind the wheel of a truck again.

This is a classic case of overreacting. The authorities should have investigated the situation more thoroughly before shutting down the highway.

I'm sure he's regretting his actions now. Let's give him a chance to learn from his mistake and move on with his life.

Deporting him just because he's an immigrant is unfair. He deserves to be treated like any other citizen who commits a crime.
