A tragic incident occurred on New Year's Eve in Renfrewshire, where a woman named Elizabeth Kennedy, aged 70, was killed after being struck by a vehicle on Barrhead Road in Paisley at around 7pm. Despite the prompt arrival of police and paramedics, she was declared dead at the scene. In the aftermath, Police Scotland launched a search for the driver and the vehicle, which had fled the location.
On January 4, law enforcement announced the arrest of an 18-year-old man, who has since been released while the investigation continues. A 70-year-old woman's life was stolen just like that. There's no excuse for leaving someone to die on the road after hitting them.
