Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's decision to step back from royal life was reportedly influenced by a seemingly insignificant detail during Queen Elizabeth II's 2019 Christmas Day broadcast.
During the broadcast, the Queen displayed photographs of Prince Charles and Camilla, Prince Philip, and Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their children on her desk. Notably absent was a photo of Harry, Meghan, and their son Archie.
This omission, according to royal sources, was interpreted by the couple as a sign that they were not considered part of the "direct line of succession" and that they needed to forge their own path.
In 2020, the couple announced their decision to step back from royal duties and moved to America. A year later, they gave a bombshell interview to Oprah Winfrey, where they discussed their reasons for leaving and made serious accusations against the Royal Family.
The Queen responded with a statement expressing sadness and concern over the issues raised, particularly those related to race. However, she affirmed that Harry, Meghan, and Archie would always be loved family members.
Despite the Queen's statement, relations between the couple and the Royal Family remain strained, particularly after the release of their Netflix docuseries in 2022 and Harry's memoir "Spare" in 2023.

If they really wanted to be part of the family, they should have handled this privately.

Let’s not forget that they’re still a part of the family, regardless of titles or photos.

They constantly criticize the press, but they seem to love the limelight when it suits them.

Harry and Meghan are showing us that it's okay to break away from toxic family dynamics.

If they felt overlooked, they should have worked on their relationship instead of running off.

They have every right to define their roles away from the royal family. Go them!

They are trying to create a healthier environment for their son, and that’s commendable.

Their entire exit was so overblown. The royal family is not a reality show!

This isn’t just a royal story; it’s about family and how we treat one another.

It's hard to take them seriously when they keep playing the victim card.
