Glen Halkett, an inmate who escaped from Saskatchewan Penitentiary in Prince Albert on New Year's Eve, is facing new charges after allegedly fleeing from police officers.
Halkett was serving a nearly three-year sentence when he went missing from the prison. The following day, officers spotted him in the driver's seat of a vehicle at a home in Little Red River.
As officers approached the vehicle, it sped past their cruiser and collided with its side. Halkett, 29, is now charged with fleeing from a peace officer, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and driving while prohibited, in addition to the original charges of escaping custody and being unlawfully at large.
Authorities are requesting the public's assistance in locating Halkett. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is encouraged to contact the police or Crime Stoppers.
Halkett is described as five-feet-eight-inches tall, 168 pounds, with brown eyes, black hair, a fair complexion, and tattoos on his neck and under his left eye.

Instead of demonizing him, let's focus on rehabilitation. People deserve second chances!

We should be looking for ways to improve our justice system rather than just punishing everyone.

The justice system should emphasize rehabilitation instead of only punishment.

Prison doesn't work for everyone. Maybe he escaped because he felt unsafe or overwhelmed.

It’s easy to judge when we don’t understand what someone has gone through. Let's show compassion.
