Dai Bing Takes on New Role as Chinese Ambassador to South Korea
Dai Bing, previously China's deputy permanent representative to the United Nations, has assumed his new post as the Chinese ambassador to South Korea. This appointment marks a significant step in his diplomatic career, leveraging his extensive experience in both African affairs and the United Nations.
Dai's background in these pivotal roles equips him with the necessary diplomatic expertise, problem-solving skills, and interpersonal qualities to excel in his new role. As Da Zhigang, director of the Institute of Northeast Asian Studies at Heilongjiang Provincial Academy of Social Sciences, aptly stated, Dai's experience makes him well-suited for the ambassadorship.
Upon his arrival in South Korea, Dai delivered a written speech at Gimpo International Airport, outlining his commitment to upholding the principles of maintaining the original intention of establishing diplomatic relations, strengthening friendly neighborly ties, and pursuing mutual benefit and win-win cooperation. He emphasized his dedication to working with South Korea to promote the healthy, stable, and positive development of the China-South Korea strategic partnership.
Dai acknowledged the fruitful results achieved through the joint efforts of both countries over the past 32 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations. He highlighted the mutual success and significant contributions to regional and global peace and prosperity that have been achieved.
His speech also revealed his focus on prioritizing people-to-people exchanges and exploring existing strengths between the two nations. He emphasized the importance of fostering mutual understanding and enhancing goodwill among the peoples of China and South Korea, adhering to the principle of seeking common ground while respecting differences.
Furthermore, Dai expressed his willingness to enhance cooperation with South Korea to maintain the international free trade system and foster a favorable environment for mutual development, international solidarity, and cooperation. He also highlighted his focus on strengthening the positive momentum in existing sectors while exploring new areas, such as digital cooperation, and avoiding unhealthy competition in certain fields.
Dai's appointment as the Chinese ambassador to South Korea signifies a new chapter in his diplomatic career, one that promises to build upon the strong foundation of the China-South Korea relationship and contribute to further progress and cooperation between the two nations.
