Australia is currently leading the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2-1 after their victory in the Melbourne Test. Wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey praised his teammates, particularly Travis Head, Steven Smith, and Marnus Labuschagne, for their contributions in the series.
Carey noted that Head scored the majority of runs early in the series, while Smith and Labuschagne stepped up later. He emphasized the team's level-headedness and their understanding that they are a good team, despite the poor performance in the first Test.
Carey also mentioned that the mood within the team has remained consistent throughout the series. They were determined to bounce back from the Perth loss, but they didn't feel the need to make significant changes. They trusted their players to perform when their time came.
In the Melbourne Test, Mitchell Starc bowled at full pace despite fitness concerns, helping Australia defend the target of 330 runs. India was set a target of 340 runs on Day 5, but they were bundled out for 155 in the 80th over. Pat Cummins was named the Player of the Match for his outstanding performance with both bat and ball.
The final match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground from January 3.

“Starc was good, but he was far from perfect. If he keeps this up, he might do more harm than good.

Player of the Match? Pat Cummins is overrated; there are better bowlers out there.

I’m not impressed with how Australia sidestepped the real issues in their performance.
