BYD's 2024 Sales Surge Driven by Strong NEV Demand
Chinese automaker BYD experienced a remarkable year in 2024, with new energy vehicle (NEV) sales skyrocketing by 41.26% to over 4.27 million units. This impressive growth was primarily driven by the popularity of passenger vehicles, which accounted for 4.25 million units, representing a 41.07% increase year-on-year.
Breaking down the figures, fully electric vehicles witnessed a 12.08% year-on-year increase, reaching over 1.76 million units. Meanwhile, plug-in hybrids saw an even more significant surge, jumping 72.83% to approximately 2.49 million units.
BYD's success extended beyond China's borders, with overseas sales of passenger NEVs growing by a remarkable 71.9% to 417,200 units. This highlights the company's expanding presence in international markets.

In the first 11 months of 2024, Chinese carmakers sold over 11.26 million NEVs, a 35.6% increase compared to the previous year.
