Florida Man Attacks Neighbor with Knife Following Argument

A dispute between neighbors in Florida escalated to violence when 48-year-old Addiel Herrera allegedly attacked a woman living in his duplex with a knife. According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office (LCSO), the altercation began on December 28, when an argument erupted over a comment made about a family member of Herrera.

In an attempt to distance herself from Herrera, the victim tried to close her garage door and lock herself inside her home. However, Herrera reportedly went to retrieve a knife and began banging on her door. When she opened the door, he allegedly stepped inside and slashed at her, causing an injury to her hand. Despite this, the victim bravely managed to push him back out and prevent further entry, even as Herrera continued to stab at the door.

Body camera footage released by the LCSO showed deputies responding to the scene, with one officer instructing Herrera in Spanish to come forward. When they arrived, Herrera had blood on his hands and surrendered to authorities. He was subsequently detained and charged with armed burglary with assault, and is currently being held without bail at the Lee County Jail.

Sheriff Carmine Marceno commented on Herrera's extensive criminal history, which includes violent offenses such as aggravated assault and battery, emphasizing that such behavior will not be tolerated in Lee County. This incident marks yet another case highlighting the ongoing issues of neighborhood disputes turning violent.
