A man named Aaron Suppes, 33 years old, is facing charges after allegedly threatening to release Sarin gas during a Christmas Eve service at Joel Osteen's Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas.
On Christmas Eve, Suppes called the FBI tipline and stated his intention to release Sarin gas at the church. He was located at the church and had left his bags at the door. Bomb squad officials and a hazmat team searched the bags but found no explosive devices.
Suppes had earlier made a strange call to 911, claiming that he and his sister were being "microwaved from overseas." He was also revealed to be unemployed and homeless at the time of his arrest.
Surveillance footage and information gathered during the investigation led police to Suppes, who was still in the vicinity of the church. He was arrested without incident and taken to jail. His bond was set at $15,000.
In 2021, Pastor Joel Osteen was falsely accused of refusing to allow people seeking shelter from the Texas winter storm to stay inside his church. These allegations were later debunked.

This is a terrible example of how hate and fear can drive people to do terrible things. 💔
