An Ohio couple, Charles Edmonson, aged 64, and his wife Matthew Edmonson, aged 50, has been sentenced for the severe abuse of their five adopted sons with special needs. Charged with multiple felony counts of child endangerment, Charles pleaded guilty to more serious charges, including kidnapping and felonious assault, resulting in a 15-year prison sentence, while his wife received a 13-year sentence after admitting to five counts of child endangerment.
The case against the Edmonsons was initiated when Charles faced conviction for sexually abusing another adopted child. This investigation unveiled disturbing video evidence showing their children living in harsh, dungeon-like conditions, leading Clermont County Prosecutor Mark J. Tekulve to express profound concern over the boys' treatment. The children, who are biological brothers aged between 9 and 14, were neglected and suffered from various medical issues, which were overlooked by the couple. Thankfully, they have been removed from the Edmonsons’ custody and are reportedly doing well in a safer environment. Tekulve condemned the couple's actions, stating that they were unfit for parenthood and emphasizing the ongoing need for vigilance against such abuses by those who claim the title of “parent.”
