A 33-year-old woman, Kirsty Carless, has been brought before the court facing a murder charge in connection with the death of Louis Price, a 31-year-old fisherman and devoted Aston Villa fan. The incident occurred on Christmas Day in Norton Canes, Staffordshire. During a preliminary hearing at Birmingham Crown Court, Carless appeared via video link from HMP Foston Hall, where she confirmed her ability to hear the proceedings.
Judge Michael Chambers KC ruled that Carless must stay in custody until her next court appearance scheduled for the end of January. At that hearing, she will be asked to plead either guilty or not guilty to the murder charge. Carless's lawyer, Michelle Heeley KC, indicated there would be no request for bail.
On Christmas Day, Staffordshire Police were alerted to a report of a man in cardiac arrest at approximately 3:25 AM on Elm Road. Despite attempts to revive him, Price was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. His family has remembered him as a cherished figure within the community, highlighting his passion for fishing and football. They expressed their profound grief over his passing, stating that his absence leaves a significant void in their lives.
Additionally, a referral has been initiated to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) regarding the case. A tentative trial date has been set for June 2 at Stafford Crown Court, expected to last for two to three weeks before Judge Kristina Montgomery KC.

Violence isn't the answer, but we also have to understand the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Mental health plays a critical role in many cases like this. We need to consider it.

Let's reserve judgment until all the facts are clear. Everyone deserves a fair trial.

What is wrong with people today? How could anyone do this to another human being?

I have no sympathy for her. People like this ruin lives without a second thought.
