In a recent meeting held in Beijing, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval addressed ongoing border disputes between India and China, expressing New Delhi's openness to favorable communication with Beijing. Doval stated that India is committed to creating conditions conducive to a "final resolution" of these issues, underscoring the significance of resolving border disputes in a collaborative manner over the past five years.
During this 23rd meeting of special representatives, which included discussions between Doval and China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi, past diplomatic progress was acknowledged. Wang referenced a bilateral meeting in Kazan between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping in October, where both leaders assessed the advancements made in addressing border issues and agreed on improving bilateral relationships.
Reflecting on the historical context of China-India relations, Wang Yi elaborated on lessons learned over the past 70 years, emphasizing the importance of adhering to strategic guidance from their leaders. He noted that the forthcoming 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties is an opportunity to strengthen understanding and cooperation while resolving differences through dialogue, in line with the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence.
As significant emerging economies, both countries recognize that the stable development of their relations serves the interests of over 2.8 billion people. Wang highlighted that the recent meeting of special representatives is a crucial step towards fulfilling the consensus established by the two nations’ leaders. This meeting marks the first formal engagement of this kind in five years, emphasizing its value and significance.
The deliberations included a commitment from both sides to seek comprehensive and reasonable solutions to border issues based on previously established political principles. They agreed on a methodical approach that prioritizes easier resolutions before addressing more complex challenges, while also emphasizing the need to maintain peace and tranquility along the border.
Further discussions extended to regional and international matters of shared interest, with both sides advocating for multilateralism and the protection of the rights and development interests of Global South countries, promoting a more balanced international order.

Are we really supposed to believe that China will follow through on any agreements? Their track record speaks volumes.

Doval’s openness to communication is a smart move. We need to prioritize diplomacy over conflict.

This meeting seems like a means to pacify the populace rather than a genuine intent to resolve disputes.

Why do we keep celebrating 'dialogue' when it yields no tangible outcomes? Let’s focus on actual results.

India is being too soft on China. We need to take a stronger stance rather than seeking cooperation.
