Kaziranga National Park Reopens for Tourist Season
Assam's Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve has reopened its doors to tourists for the 2024-25 season. The park, renowned for its rhino conservation efforts, had been closed during the monsoon season.
The official reopening ceremony was held at the Bagori Forest Range, with Assam Forest Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary and other dignitaries in attendance. Kaziranga National Park & Tiger Reserve Field Director Sonali Ghosh and MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa were also present.
Kaziranga Range (Kohora), Western Range (Bagori), and Burapahar Range (Ghorakati).
Kaziranga National Park is home to a significant population of Indian one-horned rhinoceroses, with over 2,613 individuals as of 2022. The park's success in rhino conservation is attributed to strict protection measures, smart patrolling, and community engagement. Partnerships with local communities have helped reduce human-wildlife conflicts, further strengthening conservation efforts.
Beyond its conservation significance, Kaziranga is a prime destination for eco-tourism. Wildlife enthusiasts and photographers from around the world are drawn to the park's diverse flora and fauna. Revenue generated from tourism is reinvested back into conservation initiatives, ensuring the long-term protection of Kaziranga's rich biodiversity.
Assam's Kaziranga National Park stands as a testament to India's leadership in wildlife conservation and harmonious coexistence with nature.

Concerned about the impact on wildlife. Rhinos are still recovering, and tourist influx may disrupt their habitat.
