On Thursday, a spokesperson from the Chinese Foreign Ministry expressed deep sorrow over the death of a 10-year-old Japanese boy who was stabbed in Shenzhen. During a press briefing, spokesperson Lin Jian emphasized the Chinese government's commitment to maintaining law and order, stating that such illegal and violent acts are not tolerated, and that they will pursue justice for this tragic event.

The spokesperson clarified that the boy had dual nationality, as his father is Japanese and his mother is Chinese. Following the attack, medical professionals from Guangdong Province were dispatched to assist in his urgent care, but unfortunately, the boy did not survive. Lin ensured that the Chinese authorities would assist the family with the necessary arrangements during this difficult time.

In response to media inquiries regarding this incident and referencing a similar occurrence in Suzhou earlier in the year, Lin remarked that such acts of violence are isolated incidents that can occur anywhere in the world. He reassured that China adheres strictly to the rule of law and is dedicated to protecting the safety of all individuals, including foreigners residing in the country.

Lin also indicated that communication between China and Japan remains strong despite this incident, and he underscored that events like these will not hinder the collaboration and exchanges between the two nations. The Chinese government remains open and welcoming to visitors, students, and businesspeople from Japan and elsewhere, reaffirming its commitment to protecting their safety while in China. The alleged attacker was apprehended shortly after the incident, which took place just 200 meters from the boy's school.
