Migrant Arrested for Rape After Previous Release by State Court
A 28-year-old undocumented immigrant, Jorge Luis Castro-Alvarado, has been arrested and charged with rape in Lynn, Massachusetts. This arrest comes after Castro-Alvarado was previously released by the Essex County Superior Court despite a violent criminal history.
Castro-Alvarado entered the United States illegally and was arrested in February for assault and battery on a family member. He was convicted and sentenced to 18 months in prison, but the sentence was later reduced to six months.
In April, Castro-Alvarado was arraigned on two counts of rape and indecent assault and battery. Despite an active immigration detainer from ICE, the court released him on bail without notifying immigration officials.
"The Essex County Superior Court released Castro from custody on bail without notification to ERO Boston despite an active immigration detainer in place," ICE reported. "The court placed several conditions on Castro’s bail, including a GPS electronic monitoring requirement before releasing him back into the community."
ERO Boston Field Office Director Todd M. Lyons stated, "Castro posed a significant threat to the members of our community. ERO Boston will continue to prioritize public safety by apprehending and removing noncitizen threats to our New England neighborhoods."
Fox News Digital reached out to the Essex County Superior Court for comment but has not received a response.

Violent crimes should be punished, but we also need to recognize that not all immigrants are violent.

While this case is serious, it doesn’t represent the majority of immigrants who contribute positively to society.

Let’s not jump to conclusions. Everyone deserves their day in court, regardless of their immigration status.

Another example of how the legal system fails to protect citizens. This is absolutely unacceptable!

Bail is meant for individuals awaiting trial. This is about judicial processes, not immigration status.

Every arrested person is innocent until proven guilty. Let’s wait for all the facts before passing judgment.

This incident should not be used to paint all immigrants with the same brush. Let's focus on the real issues.

Let’s not turn on entire communities because of one individual's actions. That only breeds division.

It's clear that the courts need to reevaluate their priorities—public safety should come first, not leniency.
