China Rejects G7's Interference in Internal Affairs
China has strongly condemned the G7 Foreign Ministers' Meeting for its manipulation of China-related issues. The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Wang Wenbin, stated that the G7's comments were a deliberate mischaracterization of the facts and a blatant interference in China's internal affairs.
The G7 foreign ministers, in their statement released after their meeting in Italy, expressed concerns regarding the situation in the East and South China Seas and reiterated their opposition to any unilateral attempts to change the status quo. They also expressed concerns over the human rights situation in China's Xinjiang and Xizang, as well as civil and political rights in Hong Kong.
In response, Wang Wenbin reiterated China's consistent and clear position on these issues. He emphasized that the most effective way to ensure cross-Straits peace and stability is to uphold the one-China principle and oppose "Taiwan independence." He also highlighted the peaceful and stable situation in the South China Sea, achieved through the concerted efforts of China and ASEAN countries.
Wang Wenbin further emphasized China's commitment to its people, stating that the government strives to deliver the benefit of development to all Chinese people. He pointed to Hong Kong's restored order and path to prosperity, and the social harmony, prosperity, and stability enjoyed by people of all ethnicities in Xinjiang and Xizang. He also cited a survey showing the Chinese government's satisfaction rate among the Chinese people consistently exceeding 90%.
Wang Wenbin contrasted China's approach with the G7's actions. He criticized the G7 for clinging to a Cold-War mentality, forming exclusive groups, escalating regional tensions, and engaging in trade protectionism. He urged the G7 to abandon its habit of deflecting blame and interfering in other countries' internal affairs, and instead work with the rest of the world to promote peace, cooperation, and development.
