Storm Nelson has wreaked havoc across the UK, causing significant damage to campsites and homes. In Devon, Challaborough Bay Holiday Park was forced to close after the metal roof of the Waterfront Bar was ripped off, exposing the insulation. The park's owner, Parkdean Resorts, cited safety concerns for holiday home owners and temporarily closed the park to new arrivals.
Other campsites have also been affected by the storm's torrential rain and high winds. Seaton Beach in Devon saw huts blown into the pebbles, losing their structural integrity. The Beer Coastguard Rescue team shared images of scattered belongings and partially ditched huts, warning the public to stay away from the beach during the cleanup.
In Cornwall, Looe Country Park was forced to close parts of its site due to saturated ground. The park's owners expressed concern for the safety of visitors and apologized for the inconvenience.
