Destruction of Heritage in Gaza

Gaza's iconic Omari mosque and the surrounding historic old city have suffered severe damage due to Israeli bombardment, resulting in the loss of cultural and religious sites. The devastation has left the city in a state of desolation, with residents and displaced individuals mourning the destruction of their cultural heritage and historical landmarks. Unesco has verified damage to 22 sites, including mosques, churches, and archeological locations, while the Palestinian culture ministry has documented the destruction of 207 buildings of cultural or historical significance. Photographer Wissam Nassar expresses emotional attachment to the damaged sites, lamenting the irreparable loss.
