Michelle Yeoh, the first Asian actress to win an Oscar, has been voted in as a member of the International Olympic Committee. The former Malaysian junior squash champion and Hollywood actress is known for her roles in "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon," "Memoirs of a Geisha," "Crazy Rich Asians," and as the first ethnic Chinese Bond girl in "Tomorrow Never Dies." Alongside Yeoh, seven other proposed members joined the Olympic body, including individuals such as a former Olympic volleyball medallist from Peru and the head of the International Table Tennis Federation from Sweden.
Yeoh, who is also a producer and a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador, joins the ranks of the International Olympic Committee alongside other prominent individuals from different sports and political backgrounds. Her addition to the committee brings new perspectives and experiences to the decision-making processes that shape the future of the Olympic movement.
