On Friday, an armed individual linked to the Palestinian militant group Hamas targeted an Israeli bus in the West Bank, leading to injuries for eight individuals, among them four Israeli soldiers. The attack, which took place near the Ariel settlement, prompted a swift response from Israeli troops, who killed the shooter, a 46-year-old man named Samer Hussein as identified by Hamas.
Following the assault, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) reported that the injured soldiers were taken to a medical facility for treatment. Images from the scene depicted the bus riddled with bullet holes, alongside a badly damaged vehicle abandoned on the roadside.
Moreover, on the same day, a separate tragedy occurred in the Gaza Strip, where a chaotic scene at a bakery resulted in the deaths of two young girls and a woman. These individuals perished due to suffocation after being crushed in a crowd desperate for scarce bread supplies, a problem exacerbated by escalating food prices post an assault on U.N. aid trucks entering the region. A local resident expressed frustration over the soaring costs of basic food items, particularly flour, which has skyrocketed to over $100 per bag.
