In a recent statement, Syed Afsan Chishty, the Gaddi Nashin of Ajmer Sharif Dargah, expressed his disapproval regarding a controversy sparked by a Rajasthan court accepting a petition from the Hindu Sena. This petition asserts that the Ajmer Sharif Dargah is actually a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, a claim Chishty describes as baseless and detrimental to the communal harmony of the nation.
Chishty highlighted that Khawaja Gharib Nawaz has followers from all religions around the world, not just among Muslims. He conveyed sadness and surprise over the court's decision, arguing that it threatens to disrupt the peace in India. He called for the government's intervention, suggesting that those behind such petitions may have ulterior motives and could potentially be collaborating with adversaries of the country.
Syed Zainul Abidin Ali Khan, another prominent figure associated with the Dargah, also weighed in on the issue. He commented on the increasing number of petitions and highlighted that legal action could stem from individuals seeking personal gain or publicity. Ali Khan referenced a recent incident in Uttar Pradesh that led to fatalities as an example of the serious consequences such controversies can incite.
Amidst this legal turmoil, the Dargah's leadership reiterated the need for calm and caution, as they prepare to respond to the court notices involving the Dargah Committee, the Archaeological Survey of India, and the Ministry of Minority Affairs. This situation continues to unfold as the representatives of the Dargah remain intent on safeguarding its sacred status and the unity of its diverse followers.
