The National Center for Neurological Disorders, located at Xuanwu Hospital of Capital Medical University in Beijing, has initiated a significant health awareness campaign by introducing a series of books this week. The collection, consisting of eight informative volumes, addresses different neurological disorders, including Alzheimer's disease, stroke, dizziness, headaches, sleep disorders, Parkinson's disease, epilepsy, and other rare neurological conditions.

Each book serves to educate readers about the fundamental aspects of these diseases, encompassing their defining characteristics, treatment options, and best practices for patient care and prevention. Additionally, the series offers advice on maintaining a healthy lifestyle and diet to enhance overall health.

According to official statistics, neurological diseases are the leading cause of disability and mortality in China. Zhao Guoguang, who is the director of the center and the chief reviewer for this book series, emphasized the pressing need for enhanced health education, especially considering that the elderly population in China is expected to surpass 400 million by 2035.

This growing demographic will undoubtedly increase the prevalence of neurological disorders, thereby amplifying the importance of awareness and education. Furthermore, the country's healthcare system is undergoing a transformation from a treatment-focused paradigm to a more health-centered model, which necessitates a comprehensive approach to health promotion, disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation by medical service providers.
