A man aged 45, currently incarcerated, was rearrested on Wednesday for his alleged role in the murder of a young girl in 2007, which took place in Kakogawa, Hyogo Prefecture. This comes after an earlier arrest in which he was suspected of attempting to murder another girl.
According to police reports, Kunihiko Katsuta confessed during interrogations that he had followed a girl whose physical appearance he found appealing prior to attacking her. The tragic incident occurred on the evening of October 16, 2007, when the 7-year-old girl was stabbed in both the chest and stomach right outside her home, resulting in her death. At the time, Katsuta lived with his parents just a few kilometers from the crime scene.
Additional details reveal that Katsuta was first arrested on November 7, when he was under investigation for his involvement in an attempted murder case from 2006, where he allegedly targeted a fourth-grade elementary school girl in Tatsuno, also in Hyogo Prefecture.
