Jharkhand's Hemant Soren Takes Oath as Chief Minister, Marking Historic Re-election
Hemant Soren, leader of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand on November 28th, 2019. This historic event marked the first time in Jharkhand's history that an incumbent government has returned to power after completing a full five-year term.
Soren's swearing-in ceremony took place in Ranchi, the state capital, and was attended by several dignitaries, including Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar. Shivakumar expressed his happiness over Soren's victory, stating that the INDIA bloc, of which the JMM is a part, was very pleased with the results of the recent Assembly elections.
Soren's JMM-led alliance, which included the Congress, the RJD, and the CPI-ML, secured a comfortable majority in the 81-member Jharkhand assembly, winning 56 seats. The BJP-led NDA, on the other hand, managed to win only 24 seats.
