In a distressing event, a 4-year-old girl was saved by the Badagada police in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, after her parents sold her for 40,000 rupees. The couple, originally from Bihar, reportedly sold their daughter to a childless couple in Pipili due to their financial struggles.
Trupti Ranjan Nayak, the in-charge of Badagada police station, stated that the accused were daily laborers operating within the district. Upon receiving a tip-off about the incident, the police acted swiftly to rescue the child and launched an investigation into the matter.
The police have apprehended six individuals linked to the case, including the parents of the girl and two intermediaries who facilitated the transaction. Nayak confirmed that the parents have admitted to selling their daughter and implicated others who were involved in the illegal arrangement. The investigation is ongoing as authorities delve deeper into the circumstances surrounding this case.
