Israel Denies ICC Authority and Legitimacy of Arrest Warrants
The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, has denied the authority of the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the legitimacy of the arrest warrants issued against him and former Defence Minister Yoav Gallant. This information was shared in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter).
The posts also mentioned that Netanyahu met with US Senator Lindsey Graham, who is working with the US Congress to oppose the ICC and countries that have cooperated with it.
The ICC recently issued arrest warrants against Netanyahu and Gallant, accusing them of "crimes against humanity and war crimes." The charges include allegations of targeting civilians and enforcing policies of starvation in Gaza.
In response, Israel has submitted an appeal to the ICC and demanded a delay in the implementation of the arrest warrants. The Israeli government argues that the decision to issue the warrants was baseless and without any factual or legal foundation.
The White House has also expressed concerns over the ICC's decision, stating that it fundamentally rejects the court's jurisdiction over the situation. The US continues to show support for Israel amid the ICC's charges against its leaders.
