Daito Trust Construction to Launch University Course in Indonesia
Daito Trust Construction Co. has announced plans to launch a university course in Indonesia starting in August 2025. The program aims to nurture future engineers and potential executives for the company while addressing labor shortages in the construction industry.
The company has partnered with the University of Singaperbangsa Karawang in Indonesia to offer the course. Around five students are expected to enroll in the program, which will include visits to Japan in December 2027.
Students in the program will be selected from those who wish to work for Daito Trust Construction in Japan. Upon graduation, they will be hired under the same conditions as full-time Japanese employees.
The company will provide the students with Japanese language training and other knowledge necessary to obtain Japanese national certifications required for construction projects in Japan. Local instructors at the university will deliver lectures in Indonesia, and university credits will be awarded for the program.
A ceremony to sign the memorandum of understanding was held in Tokyo on November 21st. Kei Takeuchi, the company's representative director and CEO, emphasized the urgency of securing human resources in the construction industry.
"This course offers technical lectures to students and is based on an agreement of employment, making it a highly innovative plan," Takeuchi said. "It will enable us to quickly secure human resources from overseas and operate in the long term."
Ade Maman Suherman, the rector of the University of Singaperbangsa Karawang, also addressed the ceremony. He highlighted the growing number of young workers in Indonesia seeking opportunities abroad.
"Many of them are looking for opportunities to work in foreign countries, and this trend will not change," Suherman said.
Daito Trust Construction's initiative follows its recent hiring of five students from a national technical university in Uzbekistan in September. This demonstrates the company's commitment to addressing labor shortages and securing talent from diverse international backgrounds.
