The China Wildlife Conservation Association has announced that it has finalized an international agreement with Beauval Zoo in France for the conservation of the golden snub-nosed monkey, a species recognized for its unique appearance and endangered status. As part of this ten-year cooperation program, China will transfer three golden snub-nosed monkeys—a male and two females—to France to enhance conservation efforts.
The agreement stipulates that any young born to these monkeys in France will be sent back to China once they reach the age of five. At the conclusion of the ten-year period, all golden snub-nosed monkeys will be returned to China, ensuring their conservation aligns with international protocols. Both parties will maintain close communication and offer mutual support throughout the project, emphasizing adherence to technical standards set forth in international conservation agreements.
Golden snub-nosed monkeys, distinguished by their beautiful golden fur and unique facial features, are classified as a Class I protected species. They are primarily located in the mountainous forests of the Sichuan, Yunnan, and Guizhou provinces in China, highlighting the need for dedicated conservation efforts to protect this remarkable species.
